Strategic Mindfulness

On Friday, 28 August 2020, ASIS Indonesia conducted webinar with a topic: "Strategic Mindfulness: Its Role in Security & Risk Management. The speakers were Dr. Rodney King (Director of Le Bouttilier group) from United Kingdom and Mr. Aaron Bouttilier (CEO & Founder of Le Bouttilier group) from United Kingdom/Thailand. The webinar was attended by 22 people from ASIS Indonesia members, and non-members.

Here are the profile of the speakers:

Dr. Rodney King has taught personal threat management all over the world. His clients include special force military operators, law enforcement officers, and close protection teams.

He completed is PhD, with a research focus in the role mindfulness plays in peak leadership performance. He holds a Level 4 Award in Foundations of Security and Risk Management and Level 5 Award in Corporate Risk and Crisis Management (I.SRM). Rodney is regularly asked to present on the role of mindfulness in peak performance environments. As such, Rodney was a speaker at the Disruptive Passenger Global Security Event in London (2019) where he presented on the role of mindfulness in overcoming Amygdala Hijacking in an aviation security context. Rodney served in the South African Military’s VIP protection unit, and as a platoon sergeant was the lead unarmed combatives trainer for his unit.

Aaron has been involved in aviation and corporate security since leaving the UK Police force in 1997. Since then Aaron has been involved in writing and delivering in-flight aviation security programs for airlines the world over and has trained over 40,000 cabin crew in all aspects of in-flight security.

A former IATA instructor, Aaron continues to train aviation security and was invited to talk at the Disruptive Passenger Global Security Event in London (2019) on the role of mindfulness in overcoming Amygdala Hijacking. He has consulted on crisis management, corporate security and close protection have in S. E. Asia over the last 20 years. He is currently retained by several large MNC’s to act as outsourced Head of Security and a Crisis Management Advisor. Aaron has run executive protection details for some of the world’s most prominent business men. He conducts specific defensive tactics courses (Weaponize-Your-Body) to Special Force Operators in Thailand where he both fluent in spoken and written Thai. Aaron received his honorary wings from the Thai Special Forces in 2019 for his work in the Chiang Rai cave rescue. In addition he is the Regional Vice President for ASIS International, Region 13B. Aaron is currently completing his Masters in Criminology and Criminal Psychology. His thesis focuses on Neurocriminology, and its ability to predict psychopathy and aggressive behavior.
